2nd Amendment Rights
Note:  this was posted here about a year ago and I did not mention the blog this occurred on as I considered myself as having to much class for this.   However,   I will now state that this incident happened on Shotgun World tactical forum.

So here is my view of the incident on Shotgun World Tactical Forum.

If you want to be successful in business and maximize sales then refrain from discussing Religion and Politics with prospective clients as offending someone can cost a sale.  With that said I will now ignore my own advice.

I recently removed myself from a very popular "Tactical Shotgun" forum on the inter net due to a disagreement with the moderator.  The subject was a joke that was posted that concerned the murder of president O'bama and his wife by friendly fire.  I only clicked on the joke because I detest  Obama so much and if the joke was about him personally I may have enjoyed it, however, a joke about the murder of our president is not funny, it is horrific.  I asked that joke be removed and the moderator refused stating  the 1st amendment rights of the man that posted it.

Anyone in their mid fifties or older can tell you exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard President Kennedy was murdered.  Why, because it was such a horrific act in a free society.  It was done by a disturbed man with a rifle.  Later in my life Bobby Kennedy was murdered, Martin Luther King, and others, George Wallace, John Lennon, President Reagan and Secretary Brady were all shot by disturbed men with guns.  Teenagers have entered schools and murdered other kids, others have entered Schools, Churches and Shopping Malls and committed mass murder.  There is plenty of fuel for the anti gun people without us giving them more by conducting ourselves so inappropriately that we laugh at the thougt of our president being murdered.

The far left and the anti gun lobby wants nothing more then to take our 2nd Amendment rights away and of late we were just barely able to hold on to them by a 5-4 vote in the Supreme Court.

Look at the way gun owners are being portrayed by the left in movies, television and in the press.  Look at the coverage of any wrongful act with a firearm and the total lack of coverage when a Citizen defends their life or the life of other with firearms.

That distasteful joke that I so seriously objected to has been around since Clinton and was not funny then and is not funny now and to be on a gun forum and get so many positive comments simply brings a smile to the face of those who portray us as "Gun Nuts" , Red Necks" " Right Wing Fanatic's" "Bigots" and worse............ That is how they want the rest of America to see us and that joke and the comments by those gun owners plays right into their hands.  I detest President O'bama, but if I was present and someone pointed a weapon at him, I would step in front of him and take that bullet, not for Barrack O'bama but for the President of the United States.  We vote our Presidents out of Office not kill them.  Even joking about this is wrong.....

Intent means nothing and perception is everything.  Just because you laughed at the joke does not mean you would have any part in the act, however, the perception is that you agree that killing our president and his wife is a good thing.  We have to stop and start paying attention to the way we are perceived by others as it will be public opinion that will empower them to remove our 2nd amendment rights one day.

So he would not remove the joke because of the 1st amendment rights of the man who posted it.  Yes, 1st amendment allows him to tell that joke.  People, just because you can say or do  something does not mean you should.  It comes down to being responsible and doing what is appropriate and right.  There are hate blogs all over the inter net filled with such garbage as that joke and he could have posted it there.  The fact that it was on a gun forum was counter productive to all of us that are fighting for our 2nd amendment rights.

As for the 1st amendment and all the other.  Of all of them the 2nd amendment must be protected first and foremost as it is the 2nd amendment that will assure all our rights are protected in the future.  If we lose the right of the people to keep and bare arms then the rest are going to be lost one day as well.   If you know History or even if you are paying attention to events around the world you will realize that in countries that do not have our 2nd amendment rights other rights are few to non existent.

If you think a joke about killing the President of the United States is funny and my comments have offended you then by all means don't do business with me.  You may not be the kind of person I want to own one of my weapons.
